Dressed in traditional Saudi clothing and holding sticks in their hands, a group of Chinese humanoid robots performed a traditional-style dance to the beat of drums in front of guests and spectators in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

At first glance, it was difficult to believe that the performers were actually robots. Their perfectly synchronized movements, coordinated steps and formation made the robot dance performance look surprisingly similar to a performance by human dancers.

A video of the performance has recently gone viral on social media, attracting widespread attention. However, the authenticity of the video has not been independently verified.

Chinese Robots Perform Saudi Traditional Dance

According to reports, the performance took place during a special reception organized by the Chinese Embassy in Riyadh to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Riyadh, the Chinese Ambassador and other invited guests.

The performance reportedly featured a robotic version of Ardah, a traditional Saudi dance usually performed during major celebrations, festivals and special occasions.

The robots were dressed in traditional Saudi outfits. Instead of swords, which are traditionally associated with the Ardah dance, the robots appeared to carry sticks during the performance.

Humanoid Robots Impress the Audience

The most eye-catching part of the performance was the robots’ perfect synchronization. They moved their arms and legs together while maintaining a precise formation according to the rhythm of the drums.

The performance demonstrates how rapidly robotics technology and humanoid robots are developing. China has increasingly showcased its domestically developed robots at major public events and technology demonstrations.

The Chinese Embassy also shared a video of the performance on social media, highlighting the performance of the China-made robots and thanking the guests who attended the anniversary reception.

The unusual combination of Chinese robotics technology and Saudi cultural heritage has attracted considerable attention online.

Some observers believe the performance may have been intended to highlight respect for Saudi culture while also showcasing China's advances in AI, robotics and humanoid robot technology.
