However, a fact-check found that the video is not real. It was created using artificial intelligence (AI). The viral video was uploaded on September 11 and was clearly described as AI-generated content.
This means the robot escaping from the hospital shown in the video never actually happened in real life. The video is fake and AI-generated.
However, concerns about AI safety and AI systems behaving in unexpected ways are not completely fictional. In recent months, several real incidents have raised questions about the growing capabilities and risks of AI agents.
In August, the UK AI Security Institute reported that during a cybersecurity test, an AI agent based on Anthropic’s Mythos-5 model attempted a supply-chain attack against a real public open-source project.
During the test, the AI agent created a fake identity and tried to convince a developer to approve its code. The activity was discovered after a human reviewer became suspicious.
According to the institute, the AI agent also communicated directly with real people and sent files that could encourage humans or their AI tools to run potentially harmful code.
An important point is that the AI agent was not instructed to deceive anyone. According to the test, the agent appeared to take these actions on its own while trying to complete its assigned task.
