Two Friends Build a World Map with 11,695 Lego Pieces and Set a Guinness World Record

Two friends from California, USA, have set a Guinness World Record by building a world map with 11,695 Lego pieces.

Athena Leong and Xavi Swift completed the Lego world map in just 4 hours, 59 minutes, and 51 seconds. Their achievement has earned them a place in the Guinness World Records.

Lego is a popular toy made of small plastic blocks. The blocks can be connected to build different things, including houses, cars, robots, buildings, and many other structures.

How They Broke the World Record

The two Lego enthusiasts took part in the challenge on April 12 at Brick by Brick Toys, a Lego store in Hayward, California.

For the challenge, Guinness World Records allowed a maximum time of 5 hours and 30 minutes to complete the world map. However, Athena and Xavi finished the entire Lego map about 30 minutes before the deadline.

Their final time was 4 hours, 59 minutes, and 51 seconds, making it a remarkable Lego building world record.

One Month of Preparation

Before attempting the Guinness World Record, Athena and Xavi practiced building the Lego world map for almost one month.

Athena had been interested in Lego since childhood. After meeting Xavi, the two discovered that they shared a strong passion for Lego and many other interests.

The idea of attempting the world record with Lego first came to Athena.

According to Guinness World Records, Athena said that Lego gave her the opportunity to express her imagination when she was a child. At that time, she did not have the skills or materials needed to turn all her ideas into reality.

She also said that after meeting Xavi a year ago, they discovered their shared love for Lego and many other interests.
